Governing Council is the highest decision-making organ of the Polytechnic. It consists of the following members
- A chairman to be appointed by the State Governor
- Five ex-officio members as follows
- The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary education, Science and Technolohy
- Permanent Secretary, Establiment and Service Matters of the Cabinet Office
- Rector of the Polytechnic
- Director Plaining, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology
- The Deputy Rector
- There representative of professional Institution related to Engineering Technology, Environmental Studies and Business
- One person to represent the University
- Two representative of the Employers Manufacturers Association and Industry
- One person of good standing/proven integrity in the community where the polytechnic is situated who is knowledgeable in technical and Business education
- One representative of the Academic Board of the Polytechnic
- Two persons, at least one of whom shall be a woman selected each on personal merit based on contribution either to the development of industry technology or commerce or special interest in technical education.
